I met destiny on Friday, and she drew a picture of me! How cute is she? The best part was before she started drawing, she asked me "Sister Roos, is it ok if I draw your skin colour a little darker?" bhahahha I was dying of laughter in my head. I said "Yes of course Destiny! Give me until next week and I'll be that colour" hahhahah
This week has been an amazing week! Definitely
loved it! The temperature dropped down to 24 degrees one day (from 45 degrees) and
my companion and I were freezing.
So, how did you go with the invitation that I gave you to look for the
Lord's hand in your life? I sure hope you took the time to really appreciate
all the things that the Lord and Heavenly Father do for you weekly, daily,
hourly! I know as I have done that it has
deepened my love for them both!
A tender mercy that I witnessed yesterday was so funny! In the area that
I am serving in – Bathurst - everyone is very comfortable with where they are
in terms of religion (or none at all). During the last three weeks a lot of
doors closed, which is great because it makes me so excited for that one person
that is ready to hear the gospel! So yesterday,
Sister Niu and I went door knocking (keep in mind that we were so used to having
everyone say no and closing the door); we got to this door and started
introducing ourselves to this lady and asked if our specific message, which is
centred on Jesus Christ and God would interest her. She casually said yes,
which was so funny, because we both paused and process the fact that she
actually said yes. When we left we were
laughing so hard because it took me a second to realise that she actually said
yes; we have a return appointment with her next week, woopwoop!
This week I went on my first trade off with my STL Sister Peters! She is
so awesome! I love her! She lives out in Orange with the other sisters so
Sister Niu and I drove out to meet them.
A while later, after our trade off, we were driving back home and it was
super dark outside. Imagine the middle of nowhere with only your headlights to
lead you (and the occasional car driving past). When there were no other cars
on the road, I would turn my brights on, and when there were cars coming I
would turn them off (to be considerate and all haha). This got me thinking
about our journey down the road back to our Heavenly Father.
We all have a light within us! I thought of my sister's favourite
scripture Matthew 5:14-16 "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set
on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a
bushel, but on a candle stick; and it giveth light to all that are in the
house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,
and glorify your father which is in heaven."
Are we each WILLING to be the light that will disperse the darkness in a
world that is progressing more and more towards darkness? Are we each WILLING
to be the light that will help others whose own lights have dimmed so they can
realise their potential to shine? Are we each WILLING to keep our light bright?
Do not dim your light as you see others pass you by just to be considerate of their feelings, or what they might think; you are meant to shine!
Be the light to brighten the path of discipleship!
Be the light to lift those who have dimmed!
Be the light to ensure you are travelling in the direction that will
lead you back home to our Heavenly Father!
As we journey down the road leading us back to Heavenly Father, I
encourage each of us to continually strive to obey these warnings that have been given to us:
Think about the road conditions.
Think about the other road users.
Think about what's ahead.
Think about your speed on this road (especially the curves).
Think about your following distance.
Drive carefully.
Drive safely.
Uneven surfaces!
I invite you each to think about how these 8 statements apply to you in
your life and how you can use them on your journey back to Heavenly Father! I
also invite you to be a LIGHT! We were created to SHINE! I love my
Heavenly Father with all of my being and more. There is nothing more that I
want than to return to him again. I desire each of you to have that opportunity
too.
I love you!
