The Healing Power of The Saviour

Tuesday 25th April, 2017

Happy Marvelous Monday everyone! Hope your week was as amazing as mine! How did you all do with the invitation that I extended last week?  My invitation to you last week was to make at least one change or improvement in your life to be a partaker of the divine nature, to escape the corruption of the world! How did you do? I pray that you were able to be a partaker of the divine nature this week and had the opportunity to receive the marvelous blessings that Heavenly Father desires to give you!

I was in orange (45min- 1 hour drive) for trade offs. This is Sister Harmon (missionary) and Sister Browne - she's 95! 96 in two months hahaha

I wish to pose some questions for us to ponder.

Do you believe that Jesus was the Son of God, the literal offspring of the Father?
Do you believe that the voice of God, the Eternal Father, was heard above the waters of Jordan declaring, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased?" (Matt.3:17)
Do you believe that this same Jesus was the worker of miracles, the healer of the sick, the restorer of the infirm, the giver of life to the dead?
Do you believe that following his death on Calvary hill and his burial in Joseph's tomb, he came forth alive the third day?
Do you believe that he yet lives - real, vital, and personal - and that He will come again as promised by the angels at his ascension?
Do you believe these things?

I want to focus on one of the questions posed -
Do you believe that this same Jesus was the worker of miracles, the healer of the sick, the restorer of the infirm; the giver of life to the dead?

In the scriptures, we are given many examples of the miracles the Saviour performed in healing, raising the dead and making people whole!

In Matthew 9:20-22 (Mark 5:25-34; Luke 8:43-48) is the account of the woman with a blood disease
"And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

In Mark 10:46-52, Bartimaeus' sight is brought back.
"Blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called, And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. and he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

In Luke 7:36-50, we learn about a woman bringing her alabaster box of ointment to the Saviour.
"And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment." The Saviour then explains the love that this woman had for him and continues "Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven...And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace."

In Luke 17:11-19 we learn about healing the lepers.
"And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem  he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

1 Nephi 7:12
"Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten that the Lord is able to do all things according to his will, for the children of men, if it so be that they exercise faith in him? Wherefore, let us be faithful in him."

2 Nephi 27:23
"For behold, I am God; and I am a God of miracles; and I will show unto the world that I am the same, yesterday, today, and forever; and I work not among the children of men save it be according to their faith."

Ether 12:12
"For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith."

These four accounts (and many others) from the New Testament are great examples or models for each of us to see how we can be healed by our Saviour! Some scriptures in the Book of Mormon help add to some of the principles in these accounts.

We must have FAITH that he - our Saviour will work mighty miracles in us. He states many times that our faith makes us whole. We also learn that we must ACT! When the Saviour healed each of these people they did not just remain sitting where they were, they "followed Jesus" (Mark 10:46-52) or "as they went, they were cleansed" (Luke 17:11-19). The healing power of the Saviour is according to our faith!

Do you have faith that the Saviour can work these same mighty miracles on you?
We all stand in need of healing. Whether it be physical or spiritual healing, the Saviour is the one who can take that away - according to our faith and according to his will.

My invitation to you all this week is to allow the Saviour to HEAL you! Exercise your faith in him and He will make you whole! If we have faith in Jesus Christ, the hardest as well as the easiest times can be a blessing. If we have faith in Jesus Christ he will heal you! We never need to feel that we are alone or unloved in this life or in the service of the Lord, because we never are! May we always feel the love of God in our lives! The Saviour has promised us angels on our left and our right, to bear us up! And he ALWAYS keeps His word.

I love you all! Have a great week!
